Fellowship!
If I were having a cup of coffee or tea with you right now, I would want to hear about everything you have been doing and what your future plans are. Then I would want to fellowship with you about your needs and your faith. Oh, we could have such a time sharing! Last weekend I went to visit my Aunt Helen who was diagnosed at Christmas-time with stage four cancer. It was such devastating news, but I must tell you that she is such a trooper and her faith is in the Lord. She has begun chemotherapy treatments and has already been hospitalized to build up her system. When I arrived at her home, I was blessed to find all five of her children and a couple of grand-children having lunch. I was invited to sit with them and have a piece of chicken. My cousins are very happy people. In the midst of the struggle we shared and laughed about current events and some old times. We reminisced about the home place where my grandmother and her family lived, how many fruit trees in the yard and what kind. We were into picking cherries and peaches and how delicious they are right from the tree! We visited until we felt Aunt Helen needed some rest. While eating dinner with my grandson, Paxton, the other night, he told me he is learning at school about setting goals. He told the instructor that his first goal was to keep lotion on his hands so they would not be chapped and then he told all the benefits of reaching the goal. One was that it would keep his hands from hurting and another that his mother would be happy about it. How much we can learn by sitting down with someone and visiting. I wish I were with you to visit personally, but I pray you have family and friends to visit with and share your stories, goals and faith. I believe that Jesus is in the midst of us when we share and He hears our prayers and concerns. In the midst of winter, life can be precious when we sit over a cup of coffee or a bowl of soup and visit! Join
a friend for a cup of coffee! Winter 2008 |
